Steelers Training Camp Open Thread: Curtis Brown and Goodbye Steel 34D Edition

A nice piece by ASU-bound Steel34D on Curtis Brown's performance against Philadelphia. Got me thinking (dreading) of future Monday mornings, freezing in my chair, trying desperately to explain what happened on a given play.

It's not easy, that's for sure. People in-the-know rarely agree with you, and you always see something later that needed to be pointed out, even if you spent 2,000 words explaining it already.

For the record, I disagree with his conclusions about Brown, but I do agree on the play in question, S Da'Mon Cromartie-Smith shares as much blame as Brown does. Neither of them played the pass as well as they could have.

That being said, my point here is to call everyone to see how Brown responds to that, and to keep an eye on S Robert Golden in Sunday's game. He's a longshot, but I wouldn't be surprised if he winds up making the team. Smart player, takes good angles. It's silly to suggest this, but I'd bet he would have been in a position to make a play on the ball.

Anyway...let's call this the "Farewell to Steel34D" Open Thread, as our man is packing up and heading to school soon enough for a classload that would only make the antisocial extreme nerds pleased.

Wish him well, talk some Steelers football, it's Wednesday and we are avoiding work, right?
