Mike Bires of the Beaver County Times is citing a source that confirms embattled Steelers WR Mike Wallace is in Pittsburgh today, potentially ready to sign his one-year restricted free agency tender offer and join the team.
Wallace has missed every team activity to this point, but reports came out last week saying he would join the team by its Week 1 game at Denver.
It's also possible, although highly unlikely, Wallace will sign a multi-year extension to remain with the Steelers past this season. The Steelers have a long-standing policy of not negotiating contracts with players who are not in training camp, and Wallace fits that description.
Whether a long-term deal with Pittsburgh is in Wallace's future remains to be seen, but he is expected to sign his tender offer before the season begins Sept. 9. If that is today, it would be possible he'd participate in Saturday's preseason game with Buffalo. If it's later this week, odds of that happening would drop a bit.
BTSC will continue following this story and will report any updates as they happen.
Last week we speculated that Mike Wallace might end his holdout this week, maybe as early as today . I've been told he's already in town
