The Steelers claimed released Jaguars RB DuJuan Harris Monday, adding to their depleted running back group in preparation for Thursday's preseason game against Carolina.

Harris had nine carries for 42 yards last year with the Jaguars, and returned 14 kicks for 308 yards.

Steelers RB Isaac Redman was held out of practice Monday with an ankle injury, although he would have been highly unlikely to play Thursday anyway. The Steelers lost RB John Clay earlier this preseason and RB Rashard Mendenhall is looking at a return sometime around the quarter of the season.

The stars will definitely be out to shine in the final preseason game. Nothing against Harris, it could be a practice squad audition for him more than anything else, but clearly, the Steelers are trolling for bodies to fill a team, much like a beleaguered slowpitch softball team does at midseason.

Harris, at 5-foot-7, 196 pounds will make an interesting combination with the 5-foot-10, 251 pound Jason Ford, who looks like he'll return for Thursday's game as well.

Say the backfield combination together quickly...Harris and Ford.

See what I did there?
