The Steelers aren't practicing today, in wake of Thursday's 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff at Philadelphia in preseason Week 1 action. There are still lots of talking points for Steelers fans heading into that first game.
I was on Trib Live Radio Saturday with DD, and I made a joke about if you take away the playoffs and Weeks 1-17, preseason Week 1 is the best game of the year.
I think he took me a little bit more seriously than I intended to be, but the point is, it's the first actual (kind of), live and current football we've seen in a long time. Personally, I like seeing the guys we've been reading about and watching in practice highlights play it live. I'm curious to see Will Johnson in action. I want to see the bevy of young receivers the Steelers have competing for one remaining wide receiver position, and I want to see Byron Leftwich throw again. It's been a while.
We've got a full slate of coverage getting set up for Thursday, including a visit to the City of Brotherly Eagles Fans by Ivan Cole. In the meantime, we're going to just sit back, count the hours and try to enjoy the anticipation.
