Updated playoff picture for Steelers after the early games

Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

The Pittsburgh Steelers will still be mathematically alive for the playoffs as of their own kickoff time.

The New York Jets improved to 7-8 by beating the Cleveland Browns 24-13, while the Buffalo Bills shut out the Miami Dolphins 19-0 to drop Miami to 8-7. Pittsburgh needs the Jets and Dolphins to both finish 8-8 in order to keep their slim hopes alive (Jets would then eliminate the Dolphins via division tiebreaker).

More than anything, the Steelers are going to have to take care of their own business at Green Bay in just a bit here, against a Packers team that's trying to keep their own playoff hopes alive with Matt Flynn at QB for Aaron Rodgers. It'll be a fun one in the snow and wind, as the two storied franchises square off for the first time since Super Bowl XLV.

But Pittsburgh also needs the Patriots to beat the Ravens, who are also playing during the late-game time slot today.
