Steelers add sixth round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft

New, comments

Some notable players the Steelers have taken around the 206th pick - which they picked up in the 2013 NFL Draft - are Chris Kemoeatu and Sunny Harris.

The Steelers received the 38th pick of the sixth round - 206th overall - as a compensatory pick for the loss of William Gay in 2012 free agency, and the fact they lost more players than they gained.

The Steelers re-signed Gay to a three-year deal this offseason, incidentally.

Pittsburgh now has eight picks in this draft - 1.17, 2.16, 3.17, 4.18, 5.17, 6.18, 6.38 and 7.17.

The Steelers have never had the 206th pick in the NFL Draft, so that's something. Oddly, one of the players the Steelers let go in 2011, Chris Kemoeatu, was taken with the 204th pick in 2005. Ra'Shon "Sunny" Harris was taken with the 205th pick, in the 2009 NFL Draft.

Antonio Brown, perhaps the most notable Steelers player taken in the sixth round, was the 195th pick in the 2010 Draft. Running back Jonathan Dwyer was the 188th pick in that same draft.

Outside linebacker Greg Lloyd is probably the most famous Steelers sixth round pick, having been the 150th player taken in the 1987 Draft. Lloyd went onto a huge career in Pittsburgh, so clearly, the Steelers will select the next Greg Lloyd with the 206th pick this year.
