BTSC 2013 Community Mock Draft -- Final Selection List and Instructions

Many thanks to all of you who jumped in and offered to participate in this year's edition of the BTSC Community Mock Draft! Like always, there's an interesting mix of old and new that are on board for this year's iteration, and I'm eager to see what we can put together.

FAQ:

How many rounds is this again?

One. Just the first round.

How quick do you need to be in putting together your pick and write up?

We are looking for thoughtfulness here and I understand you can't always rush that. But in the interest of making sure we can finish on time, the pick will be made for you if 24 hours go by and I haven't heard anything from you yet. If you need more time than that to finish your write up, I'm very accommodating as long as you've already gotten the pick to me -- there's a difference between holding up the draft and consequently keeping everyone after you in limbo, and holding up the posting schedule (the latter isn't quite as big of a deal as the former).

We've got less than 25 days to work through 32 picks, and we won't finish before the draft (April 25) if everyone takes a full day "on the clock".

Would you like an email reminder when you're on the clock?

Please send an email to barnerburner [at] gmail [dot] com stating:

1) Your SB Nation screen name

2) The team you're picking for

3) Your opinion on whether Matt Spaeth was a great free agent pickup or the greatest free agent pickup (those are the only two options, no write-in's allowed, and your email may take longer to fully process without a valid response)

Doing so will really help move this along more efficiently because I can let you know who has already been picked before the actual post(s) go up.

Not doing so means that I'll have to hunt down whatever email address you used when registering (if I have the patience). I really don't like having to do that, and "on the clock" time may mysteriously shrink as a result.

How do you submit your pick?

Please submit your picks to me via email (still barnerburner [at] gmail [dot] com). I will then put together the post and publish for you, with proper attribution for your efforts. If you'd like to include a picture or video, please send me the URLs of which images/videos you'd like and I will insert them.

Put together something that you're satisfied with. You can make your write up as long or as short as you'd like, just try not to shortchange us in showing the reasoning behind your selection.

It's always good to include an assessment of your team's needs, to show an awareness of your team's recent draft history and if there were any significant coaching/regime changes this offseason, and to establish why your selection is the best choice on the board in your opinion (haters may hate, but this is all about what YOU think would be best for your chosen team). If you've got the time, browse through what we put together in last year's community mock, and you should get a gauge on which kinds of write ups you like and which ones left a little bit to be desired.

Note: It does not have to be a completely sanitized, analytical draft write up if that's just going to cramp your style - one of my favorite write ups in BTSC community mock history is this piece of satire from Dwight White's Missing Tooth.

Another note: We do still have a couple of open spots. Feel free to claim them if you missed yesterday's post. If they're still unclaimed when their turn rolls around, I'll probably put some prospects names on a bunch of beach balls, throw them into a pool of manatees, and see who that braintrust decides to bump into the "pick pond".
