Alright, it's Day 2 of the draft so let's do this all again!
This article is functioning as a combination live blog and open thread. We will be updating with news, providing links and photos and making our requisite smartass comments and things of that nature. This will work in combination with our StoryStream on the front page to organize all of the news as it comes in - first-take reactions will be here, with more reasoned thoughts being spun out into their own posts (which will be linked here as well).
Some reading material from earlier today:
Big Jay's Round 2-3 Mock Draft
Steelers Round 2-3 Drafting vs. League Average, 2001-2012
A simple reminder to please keep the language clean, conversation more or less on topic and personal attacks at absolute zero.
As it is, welcome back to BTSC's NFL Draft War Room, enjoy!
Liveblog:
6:55 p.m. - Cincinnati Bengals reached a deal with RT Andre Smith? Thought they were going to botch it more thoroughly than that.
7:02 p.m. - There. Te'o's gone. He can hide in San Diego, and we can never speak of any of this again. Deal? Deal.
7:07 p.m. - See update at 7:02 p.m., insert "Geno Smith" and "New York" instead of Te'o. And Tebow. Cripes. Let's just move on here.
7:10 p.m. - let's not forget the great contributions here from the staff. Ivan's special Friday Night Live Checkdown, BigJay's Big Mock and Momma's Steelers drafting vs. league average. HdeA has a great 5 Burning Questions up as well, so if you're new, welcome, scroll around, get comfortable, let us know what you think.
7:12 p.m. - p.s. Mike Miller of Bleacher Report had Geno Smith as his "top overall pick" back in October. I enjoy pointing that out. Not just top. Top overall. And he went in the second round, as he should have.
7:28 p.m. - Robert Woods to Buffalo. That hurts. Really wanted that guy. The Steelers did too. So what's the target here? Who are the Steelers thinking about taking?
7:54 p.m. - The Steelers take the somewhat surprising - and the questionably talented - Le'Veon Bell in the second round. Yes, the Steelers have added LaRod Stephens-Howling and Le'Veon Bell to their roster. No word has been mentioned over whether they are planning to combine the two into one decent running back. If that fails, they will have five one-dimensional running backs on the roster heading into camp. Mike Wallace was too one-dimensional to stay in Pittsburgh, let's remember that.
8:57 p.m. - Thought about the Steelers second round pick, Le'Veon Bell. Trying to see what they see. I don't. I can't.
9:47 p.m. - From one MW to another MW...and only four years and five picks apart in third round drafts. Who was drafted higher, former Steeler Mike Wallace or new Steeler Markus Wheaton?
