The Steelers selected Florida State ILB Vince Williams with the 206th pick of the 2013 NFL Draft.
The Steelers had the last pick of the sixth round, given to them in compensation for having played a season without cornerback William Gay in 2012.
Williams visited with the Steelers, and fell a bit further than many thought he would. At the same time, he's a fairly one-dimensional player, and it doesn't seem he'd be available for three downs due to limited pass coverage ability.
While the Steelers still have a pick left in this draft, they took an inside linebacker over Penn State's Michael Mauti. A source had told BTSC Mauti was a priority for the team, and while it's still possible to draft him, or sign him as an undrafted free agent, they will have to compete against the market to do that.
If Mauti is unsigned, he may want to sign somewhere that didn't take another inside linebacker instead of him.
Maybe Williams is really the guy they wanted later in the draft.
