With the selection of Samford defensive tackle Nicholas Williams, the Steelers conclude their draft for the year.
Round | Name | Pos | School |
1 | Jarvis Jones | OLB | Georgia |
2 | Le'Veon Bell | RB | Michigan State |
3 | Markus Wheaton | WR | Oregon State |
4 | Shamarko Thomas | S | Syracuse |
4 | Landry Jones | QB | Oklahoma |
5 | Terry Hawthorne | CB | Illinois |
6 | Justin Brown | WR | Oklahoma |
6 | Vince Williams | LB | Florida State |
7 | Nicholas Williams | DT | Samford |
It's unclear how Nicholas Williams (already called him "Kyle" twice) fits into the grand scheme here, but it's not as if the Steelers can't find defensive line talent from late in the draft.
Some versatility among that unit would be a great way to cap off what has to be considered a pretty solid draft, all around. Landry Jones may have been a bit of a surprise, but not a terrible surprise. Top to bottom, highly productive collegiate players who can come in and compete for a spot. Competition makes everyone better and if these guys are competitive, the Steelers are better for it.
