Perhaps former Steelers and current Bengals outside linebacker James Harrison is moving into the "James Being James" phase of his career. Or, perhaps it's because Steelers fans have had a front row seat all these years to his entertaining comments over the years, it's doubly enjoyable getting to see another fan base partake.
Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio grabbed a tidbit from Harrison's press conference with the Bengals Tuesday, where Harrison was explaining why he spends, "$400,000 to $600,000" in body therapy each year.
"My body is what helps me to make money," Harrison said. "Whatever there is that I need to do to try and make myself better or get myself healthy, I'm going to do it. It wouldn't be unreasonable to say that I spend anywhere between $400,000-$600,000 on body work, as far as taking care of my body, year-in and year-out."
Understandable. Perhaps a bit more than the average person would expect, and not as eye-catching as his next comment.
"I've always been what everybody'd like to call - excuse my English - is massage whore," Harrison said. "I can't think of nothing else. They done called me it so long I'm starting to believe it."
Florio wrote the entry was removed from the transcript of the interview, possibly because he dared to say the word "whore." It's unclear why that's such a big deal, but it wasn't the only aspect of the interview drawing attention.
When asked about Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton, Harrison refused to give the song and dance usually required when speaking about a team's most prized possession.
"I don't have a view. Next question," Harrison said.
That's just James being James.
