A Hall of Fame defensive back like Rod Woodson could probably share a tip or two with the Steelers' young secondary.
Having him interacting with veterans like Troy Polamalu and Ike Taylor, along with Carnell Lake, would be a great photo opportunity - if the Steelers were looking to do that sort of thing.
Woodson, along with Jason Gildon, Mike Tomczak and Rod Rutherford are on-hand in the Steelers' minicamp, assisting the full-time coaches conduct practice. Woodson will return for the Steelers' training camp that begins July 26 in Latrobe, Pa.
The Steelers hired Lake to replace departed secondary coach Ray Horton in 2011 after an outstanding career with the Steelers in the 1990s (Horton left for Arizona's defensive coordinator position and now has that role with the Cleveland Browns). Woodson, Lake's teammate for eight years from 1989-96, was the secondary coach for the Oakland Raiders in 2011, but was not retained when the team hired Dennis Allen before the 2012 season.
