First thought was, "nah, this isn't Mike Tomlin." BTSC writer Tony Defeo agrees with the kneejerk reaction this isn't even Tomlin.
Deadspin ran a photo of the Steelers head coach who apparently stopped into the Mt. Royal Inn, "bought a couple of six packs, and picked up a round for everyone in the joint."
On second and third look, perhaps it is. Perhaps it isn't. Does the lady he's posing with seem like someone who would know the difference?
For argument's sake, let's say it is him.
What a guy, Coach Tomlin springing for beers for everyone. The question really becomes what kind of beer did he buy, presumably for himself.
Considering they came in six packs, one would think it was something of the more premium variety. It still seems strange to see Bud Light purchased in a six-bottle configuration. Perhaps that's his thing, but we've seen the westward expansion of his weight line in the six years's he's been at the helm of the Steelers. It would suggest the consumption of many things, but likely a more heavier version of a guy's favorite drink.
What's the point of this story? None, really. It does serve as a decent enough segue to bring up The Renegade...starting at midnight ET Friday, July 26.
That's right...Midnight Madness...
"The jig is up, the news is out/They finally found me
The renegade who had it made/Retrieved for a bounty
Never more to go astray/This'll be the end today
Of the wanted man
