Welcome to The Renegade

A comprehensive look into the expectations and predictions behind the 2013 Steelers.

Justin K. Aller

Hello, and welcome to another season of Steelers football here on Behind The Steel Curtain. For those of you who may have recently found this site, I'm Neal Coolong, the managing editor.

We have a simple goal here. Our aim each day is to produce content and lead discussion based around the concept of BTSC being a place for intelligent news discussion with a sense of history.

That's paraphrased from Steelers President Art Rooney II, who used those words to describe BTSC a few years ago. Site founder and previous managing editor Michael Bean set the standard of living up to those expectations, and since taking over in January, 2012, I've done my best to continue that tradition.

We are releasing "The Renegade" today - our 2013 Steelers Season Preview Issue. There is no hard copy of this, but there are several articles that will be released today, each hour on the hour, in an effort to provide as deep and thorough an analysis of the Pittsburgh Steelers as they begin training camp.

The backstory of how this idea came to fruition will follow this introduction. After that, we have our cover story, an in-depth look at the Steelers' offensive line, daring to ask the question whether this group can push the 2,500 rushing yards plateau this season.

We focus on two key Steelers' rookies, running back Le'Veon Bell and wide receiver Markus Wheaton. The specific contributions they will make this year, we believe, will be critical in the Steelers' run back to the top of the AFC North.

We will break down each position in terms of depth, and offer some insight on an early 53-man roster prediction.

There will be four video features, breaking down the Steelers' opponents in quarter-season increments. We even discuss Fantasy Football, as well as the running "Jersey Rules" feature on which player should be represented by your game-day attire (has there ever been a repeat winner?).

We've even created a few T-shirts, which we are (shamelessly) selling. They're great shirts, though.

All of these will be held in a "hub" (a collection of stories grouped in one section) titled "The Renegade," and will be displayed on the top of BTSC. Check back with it often, it will be updated throughout the day.

In doing this, we hope to provide you, the reader, with a one-stop-shop to read everything you need to know about the team heading into the season. More than that, we hope to show you the depth of coverage and features offered here throughout the season.

BTSC prides itself on outstanding writing, timely coverage and outstanding news discussion. We post frequently and engage in conversation with our audience.

Whether you've been here since the site started in 2007 or you just found it off a search query, we invite you to hang out, make a few comments and enjoy the most widely read Steelers fan site on the Internet.

Welcome to "The Renegade," and thank you for being a part of the BTSC community.

NEAL
