Steelers training camp recap: Shamarko Thomas, Josh Victorian get interceptions

Behind the Steel Curtain's Christopher Carter was on hand Wednesday for the Steelers' practice session. The following is a transcript of the reports he filed via text messages.

-Looks like (Steelers TE) David Johnson just finished taking light jogs around the practice field...Looked ginger in his jog."

-Team's in full gear again today, Doing walk throughs at the moment.

-Don't know if he was back earlier this week, but Curtis Brown is dressed with the team.

-Got a good look at (Steelers RB Le'Veon) Bell, normal padding, no braces or extra equipment for either knee.

-In first 11-on-11, Bell and (Steelers OLB Jarvis) Jones are on both sides. Bell gets two solid carries weaving through a stout defensive front.

-RBs switching off, Bell got 3 (carries), (Isaac) Redman 2 with 1st team. (Steelers QB) Landry Jones heads 2nd offense with (Steelers RB Jonathan) Dwyer. (Steelers DE Al) Woods got 2nd (team) duties with (Steelers DE Loni) Fangupo following up. First two Jones passes tight end completions to (Jamie) McCoy and (Peter) Tuitpou.

-All defensive units showed good flow to the ball on run plays, only significant runs from Bell. Yielded two 15-plus yard receptions from tight ends, open drops from both (Emmanuel) Sanders and (Antonio) Brown.

-(Steelers K Shaun) Suisham makes a 50 yard kick with room to spare. Gets first crowd applause of the practice.

-SUISHAM JUST HIT 60!

-As 11-on-11 resumes, Ben (Roethlisberger) completes 2 passes to Brown over the middle, 2 to Sanders on sideline. (Jason) Worilds just got his first reps with the 1st defense.

-First two-minute drill shows sharpness down the field from (Bruce) Gradkowski until he gets hit throwing and (Josh) Victorian gets the pick 6. Victorian looks like the next in line behind Brown.

-Beachum as center for 2nd unit.

-2nd 2-min drill features 3rd team, 1 first down to (Derek) Moye, a screen for no gain, incompletion, then a Shamarko (Thomas) pick. Curtis Brown is moving well and has made two solid tackles on receivers at the line of scrimmage on screen plays.

-1st team defense emphasized putting (William) Gay in the slot and Victorian on the edge.

-Practice appears to be over. Ben's right knee wrapped in ice after practice. Didn't notice anything wrong during practice.

-Wheaton and (Landry) Jones working together after practice on over-the-shoulder catches.

-(Antonio) Brown looks to be running 40-yard dashes with J.D. Woods. Not full speed, I think he's helping him fire out of his stance.
