It may all be over for former Steelers left tackle Max Starks.
The Chargers released the nine-year NFL veteran Friday, unable to earn a spot with the only team he's been without outside of the one residing in Pittsburgh.
Starks, the only player in NFL history to start at right and left tackle on Super Bowl championship teams, was not re-signed by the Steelers after starting 16 games for the team last year. He struggled in the run game, but at least some of that could be attributed to the time needed to fully recover from surgery to repair a torn ACL.
Starks suffered that injury in the Steelers' playoff loss to the Denver Broncos after the 2011 season.
It seems odd to think of Starks not getting a once-over by the Steelers, considering the perception of a lack of depth the team has along their offensive line. But if former Steelers offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt, now in the same position as the Chargers, a team much in need of help along their offensive line, didn't want him, why would the Steelers?
