Steelers transactions: Release OT Mike Farrell, sign TE Nathan Overbay

The Steelers release one player and sign another, tight end Nathan Overbay, possibly to get someone prepared in the event of further depth problems at the tight end position.

In what could be the least descriptive news brief in the history of the NFL, the Steelers announced the release of offensive tackle Mike Farrell, and the signing of tight end Nathan Overbay.

Farrell, an undrafted rookie from Penn State, wasn't expected to make this year's roster, but still possibly could be in the works as the offseason progresses.

Overbay was last seen on a roster in Tampa Bay in 2010, but he hasn't played in an NFL game.

He had signed a future's contract with the Lions in January, but was released.
