Big Jay grabbed Stephon Tuitt out of Notre Dame in the second round of his most recent mock draft. He dipped into cornerback in the third round, taking Pierre Desir, and those positions could flip in rounds 2 and 3 tonight.
The cornerbacks may go quickly, and the Steelers really need to add depth at a high level in this draft.
Desir is one of a few attractive options at the position. Some others between rounds 2 and 3 are Duke's Ross Cockrell, Clemson's Bashaud Breeland. Fans will likely compare whomever it is to Ryan Shazier and Darqueze Dennard in a hindsight-is-20/20 manner, but the important thing is taking the right player.
Is the second round the right round for the right player? It's a tough call, but generally speaking, don't be surprised to see Rice's Phillip Gaines go at some point in the second round. Lacking a bit of bulk but otherwise an excellent all-around cornerback, his skills can't be denied.
Liberty's Walt Aikens and Utah's Keith McGill are also options worth a look at some point.
The Steelers select at 46, then wait until 97, barring any kind of trade, before selecting again.
