Mel Kiper Mock Draft: Steelers take cornerback Justin Gilbert

The Steelers look to add the uber-athletic CB Justin Gilbert with the 15th overall pick in the draft, according to ESPN analyst Mel Kiper. Will it happen?

For something that's not going to happen, the Steelers are being linked to Justin Gilbert with the 15th overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft quite a bit.

Mel Kiper's latest installment has the Steelers taking the uber-athletic cornerback from Oklahoma State, along with a few surprises in the top 10.

The Steelers look to add cornerback help in this mock draft, but in reality, a dive into free agency may eliminate the severity of the need they currently have at the position. Still, it's a position that hasn't been address with a first round pick since 1997 (Chad Scott) and cornerback depth has been depleted as of late with the departure of Keenan Lewis in free agency in 2013.

Gilbert has the best combination of size, speed and high-level experience among other draft candidates. At 6-foot-1, 205 pounds, and game film depicting plenty of takeaways, he looks like he has the makings of an outstanding player. Considering it's a premium position, this would be an outstanding pick for the Steelers.
