Bleacher Report's Russell Baxter makes an interesting case for the Steelers to take a look at pending Broncos free agent defensive end/outside linebacker Shaun Phillips in free agency.
With Woodley’s future a question mark and outside linebacker Jason Worilds a possible free agent, the Steelers could be in some need of help when it comes to the pass rush. Pittsburgh totaled just 34 sacks in 2013 and 13 of them came from this duo.
It wouldn't be a surprise to see the Steelers poke around a free agent pass rusher or 5-technique defensive end. At this point, depth at both positions would be critical, and if Phillips is a guy who could adapt to the rare position of playing both in different situations, he may be a smart addition from a financial perspective.
Whatever it is the team ends up doing with Worilds and Woodley, there will likely be a free agent or a draft pick used on an outside linebacker. A veteran presence makes a lot of sense.
