Jerricho Cotchery will visit Carolina Panthers Monday

So much for the Steelers Cruise theory. Jerricho Cotchery will visit the WR-strapped Panthers Monday.

Tribune-Review reporter Mark Kaboly wrote Sunday Steelers wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery will visit the Carolina Panthers Monday, his first reported free agency visit after playing in Pittsburgh the last three seasons.

Cotchery had been a part of the Steelers Cruise, a fan trip where current and former players are on a cruise ship traveling to non-winter destinations. Antonio Brown was on the trip as well.

It has been thought the Steelers would make Cotchery a priority in free agency, but after a recent deal given to 35-year-old Steve Smith, the 32-year-old Cotchery may want to see if he can get a three-year, $11 million deal as well.

His 10 touchdowns last season was a career high.

With Emmanuel Sanders having signed with the Denver Broncos Sunday, the Steelers are risking losing their second receiver from 2013. If they lose Cotchery, they'd enter the remainder of the 2014 offseason with Antonio Brown, and exactly eight career catches after that - six from Markus Wheaton, Sanders' likely replacement, and two from Derek Moye.
