Ben Volin of the Boston Globe hinted Tuesday in a notebook the Patriots have been looking into Moore, along with a few other receivers, as they look to continue their spending spree in free agency.
Moore is in Pittsburgh Tuesday visiting with the Steelers. No word has been said whether he'll be offered a contract or not, but the Steelers appear to be in need to fill a roster spot with a veteran receiver. Jerricho Cotchery spent the night in Charlotte meeting with the front office and coaching staff of the Carolina Panthers, and the Steelers have essentially no experience at receiver after Antonio Brown.
The Patriots went after ex-Steelers WR Emmanuel Sanders when he was a restricted free agent in 2013. The Steelers elected to match the Patriots' 1-year, $2.5 million offer sheet that Sanders signed, passing on a chance to receive the Patrtios' third round pick in the 2013 draft.
Sanders left town the following year anyway, signing a deal with the Denver Broncos Sunday.
The Patriots signed Brandon LaFell out of Carolina last week and are still looking to add a receiver, writes Volin.
