Steelers Wednesday OTAs recap: Worilds' injury, lack of respect for LeBackfield

Ben was "upset" initially over the team's draft - Sure, so were a lot of fans. He says he bought into media hype, not really clarifying what that means, but it seems understandable from a few different angles. Maybe we don't all collectively drink "In Colbert We Trust" Kool-Aid immediately following every move, but it's not like there's a choice.

LeGarrette Blount calls out NFL Network - Steelers running back LeGarrette Blount took exception to the fact he and fellow LeBackfield member Le'Veon Bell were not included on a recent compilation of the best running backs duos in the NFL. Jarvis Jones stronger, but not bigger - One of the challenges Steelers outside linebacker Jarvis Jones faced in 2013 was a general lack of strength. With that, to an extent, comes issues with his size. He's gotten stronger, he said, but he's still at 245 pounds.

Antonio Brown feels leadership opportunity is "exciting" - The contrast between Antonio Brown and Hines Ward is pretty extreme, but developing leadership ability like Ward had is the natural step in evolution for the fifth-year receiver. He said nothing makes him more excited than to be the leader of the wide receivers group.

Lawrence Timmons is set to lead - On the other side of the ball, another longtime but young veteran, Timmons, is prepared to emerge as a leader of the team's defense. As odd as it is, he's one of the elder statesmen there now.

Contract talks between the Steelers and Jason Worilds have stalled - Not exactly a surprising news item, considering the gap between where Worilds likely is on his value and where the team perceives it is likely enormous. Gauging where a player is in terms of value when he's struggled with injury but performed at a high level over the second half of one season is difficult. Don't expect Worilds to sign an extension this offseason.

Worilds leaves Tuesday's practice with ice on left leg, cites cramps - Lo and behold, Worilds left Wednesday's practice early, much to the chagrin of fans. The Steelers are perilously thin at the outside linebacker position, and even if it is a nothing injury, which it likely is, it's a reminder how the Steelers are one step away from disaster on defense.

Mike Mitchell has been fined 10 times in the NFL - We estimate that figure to be more than Ryan Clark and James Harrison combined. Impressive and terrible at the same time.

No certainty behind no huddle - The oft-debated Steelers' no huddle offense is grabbing headlines again, this time in a ploy to re-direct the team's intentions of frequency of use. It's a tactic that can work when an offense has the right personnel on the field and that personnel is prepared and ready. That won't be every down, though, the way some fans feel it should be.

Steelers claim CB Deion Belue after releasing Kaycee Ike - These kinds of moves are common this time of year. Belue, an Alabama product, played much of the 2013 season with Turf Toe, thus lowering his draft stock.
