2014 Sugar Bowl Open Thread

Discuss the game and any player you feel might make a good Steelers here in our Sugar Bowl open thread.

Once mighty Alabama is only slightly less mighty in their Sugar Bowl appearance against Oklahoma Thursday. The Crimson Tide were on the verge of a three-peat before a disastrous miracle play by Auburn propelled the Tigers, not their rivals, into the national championship game.

Either way, as is usually the case, there are scores of pro prospects playing in this game, with none, in my opinion, more intriguing right now than Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron.

A player oft-dogged for perceptions of riding off the talented coattails of others and lacking significant skill characteristics to make him stand out at a position that's becoming more athletic every day, McCarron has the experience and enough polish to make one so inclined to think he'll be a big riser come Senior Bowl and Combine time.

Much of that will hinge on whether McCarron can have another outstanding Bowl performance, which he'll be looking to do against the Sooners.
