Ryan Clark wishes Louis Delmas the best via Twitter

Clark tweets he had spoken via text message with Delmas, and feels he's a great fit for the Steelers - an indication Delmas and the Steelers are serious, and that Clark may know his fate already.

The Steelers got a visit from free agent safety Louis Delmas Monday.

It appears pending free agent safety Ryan Clark is applying his stamp of approval on what could potentially be Clark's replacement in 2014.

It's an odd circumstance, but Clark is nothing if not respectful. He tweeted Monday afternoon he and Delmas had exchanged text messages, and feels Delmas would be a good fit.

Here is the tweet:

It's a classy, if not odd, move by Clark. It would be tough to find more of a reason to think Clark's days in Pittsburgh are done. Not that many felt Clark would come back anyway, but it's his first real admission of the end of the line.

Delmas is eligible to be signed by any team right now because he was released by the Lions last week. The Steelers signed William Gay in the same fashion last year. They also kicked the tires on a few other free agents with injury histories similar to that of Delmas and ended up not making contract offers.

With Clark having communicated with Delmas, though, it seems a mutual agreement may be a bit closer than anyone is formally letting on right now.
