Steelers pre-draft visits: Boise State DE/OLB Demarcus Lawrence said to have scheduled a visit

NFL reporter Adam Caplan tweeted Friday Boise State defensive end/outside linebacker Demarcus Lawrence has a pre-draft meeting scheduled with the Steelers.

He also noted Lawrence is set to meet with the Redskins, Cowboys, Vikings, 49ers, Jets and Saints. Judging by the wide range of defensive philosophies of those teams, it's clear Lawrence has the ability to play multiple different positions.

He's likely best categorized as an edge rusher - one who's probably not hit his peak physically yet.

He measured in at 6-foot-3, 251 pounds at the Combine, and looks fairly thin on tape, suggesting he could probably still add bulk as he develops (he is 21 years old). While he dominated the 20-yard shuttle (4.31 seconds, fastest among his group), he plays with the kind of explosive quickness the Steelers could utilize. On top of that, his arms measured 33.75 inches, and he has 11-inch hands, giving him a length advantage not many outside linebackers can match.

His issue in college wasn't what he did on the field, it was his ability to get on the field. He was suspended three times in his career at Boise State, with some indications pointing toward curfew violations as the reason.

He's certainly worth a look, although his length and explosion could put him into the second round - a tough spot for the Steelers, considering he'll likely need to add strength before being able to really contribute.
