Three men accused of stabbing Mike Adams found not guilty

The three men accused of stabbing and attempting to rob Steelers offensive tackle Mike Adams last summer were found not guilty of the harshest crimes Wednesday after the jury deliberated for five hours.

Paranay was found not guilty of all crimes, having  been charged with aggravated assault, attempted robbery and conspiracy. The attempted murder charge was dropped during the trial. Dquay Means was found not guilty of attempted homicide, aggravated assault, attempted robbery and conspiracy, while being found guilty of escape. Jerrell Whitlock was found not guilty of attempted homicide, aggravated assault, attempted robbery while being found guilty of fleeing police.

What's left is the fact Adams was stabbed twice, lacerating his upper intestine and colon, with three men who admitted to getting into an altercation with Adams in the early morning hours of June 1.

The defense painted Adams as drunk and aggressive, and while Paranay admitted to punching Adams, at one point, a witness testified Adams asked the three to hit him. He asked them "Do you know who I am?"

Adams' contract was placed into evidence, as the defense attempted to show the jury he was already on thin ice with the team, after having failed a drug test during the 2012 NFL Scouting Combine.
