After the conclusion of our 2014 community mock draft last week, I had meant to do a summary/recap piece to put a nice little bow on it. For reasons that you don't care about, I unfortunately did not have the time to do so though.
Nonetheless, I still owe you guys something for it - and now with the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft in the books, we can see how accurate our predictions were!
Let's look at the results side-by-side.
Green numbers indicate that a player was actually selected that many spots before where they went in the community mock, while red numbers indicate that a player was actually selected later (and "NP" indicates the actual selection was not picked at all in the mock).
"Original Team" is the order we worked with for the mock (which team was effectively in that slot once the draft order was finalized, and after accounting for past trades), while "Actual Team" is who ended up picking in that slot after last night's wheeling and dealing.

For sake of comparison, just a few days ago on May 6th, ESPN's pool of dedicated team reporters did a 1st round mock in an afternoon: they accounted for 25 of the 32 actual first round picks, and had the spots for seven picks exactly correct. While no picks were exactly correct in our community mock (not the biggest deal, seeing how ours evolved over the course of a full month and ended a full week before yesterday), we accounted for 26 of the 32 first rounders.
Yes, I am scoring that as BTSC misfits - 1, ESPN NFL Nation professionals - 0. Dee Ford made all the difference.
