Kevin Johnson has already worked out for Chargers, Falcons and Eagles and had dinner meeting with Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert
— Aaron Wilson (@RavensInsider) April 7, 2015
The Pittsburgh Steelers continue to wine-and-dine NFL prospects as they try and narrow down the potential field of players who might be available to them in the upcoming 2015 NFL Draft which will be held on April 30th in Chicago, IL. The most recent such meeting was with Wake Forest CB Kevin Johnson who dined with Steelers' GM Kevin Colbert recently, per Aaron Wilson.
Several mock drafts, including this week's Mock Draft Monday, have the Steelers interested in Johnson, but the fact remains the Steelers will be interested in the best player available at either cornerback or outside linebacker when it is their turn to report their draft selection.
If Johnson is the best player available when selection No. 22 is on the clock, the Steelers want to know what Johnson is capable of, as well as the type of young man he is. This is the same reason Mike Tomlin and Joey Porter were on hand to see Bud Dupree and Shane Ray at their individual pro days. Also why Tomlin had dinner with LSU CB Jalen Collins and traveled to East Lansing to see Trae Waynes at his pro day at Michigan State.
Drafting in the back half is difficult on organizations. They can't dictate who they get - without selling the farm - but need to be prepared for a player who might fall to them. Consider Johnson just the latest on the team's list of players to evaluate.
