Steelers DE Stephon Tuitt the only player ruled 'out' vs. the Bills Saturday

New, comments

The Pittsburgh Steelers have some nagging injuries on their roster, but as the team prepares to play the Buffalo Bills Saturday, only Stephon Tuitt was ruled 'out' by Mike Tomlin.

As the Pittsburgh Steelers continue to prepare for the Buffalo Bills in their fourth preseason game, Mike Tomlin only ruled out one player who won't be playing Saturday, and that is second year DE Stephon Tuitt. The door was left open for all other injured players to play, including Lawrence Timmons (turf toe), Cortez Allen (undisclosed) and Mike Mitchell (ankle).

The news on players such as Lawrence Timmons possibly returning to the lineup is a good sign his toe injury isn't as severe as it potentially could be. Timmons has been replaced in the lineup with Sean Spence for the two games he has missed this preseason due to the toe injury.

Mike Mitchell's name being added to the injury list occurred Wednesday as he rolled his ankle during practice. Mitchell has played sparingly this preseason, and even in training camp. The team very well could be cautious with Mitchell in hopes of not having any injury linger into the regular season; however, his ability to develop a rapport and continuity with Shamarko Thomas would be a concern if he is held out of the game Sunday.

Other injured players like Vince Williams (hamstring) and Josh Harris (foot) look to be back and ready to perform on Saturday for their first game action in weeks.

Mike Tomlin also stated the team is not going to end Maurkice Pouncey's season by putting him on season-ending injured reserve. This news does not come as a surprise as it has been thought Pouncey could be a candidate for the short-term IR designated to return list.

The Steelers will play the Buffalo Bills at 4:00 p.m. EST Saturday.
