Steelers place Shaun Suisham on injured reserve, make several other moves to fill out roster

The Pittsburgh Steelers have continued their ongoing juggling of their 90-man roster. See what happened after the team placed Shaun Suisham on injured reserve Thursday.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have had their share of roster moves since opening training camp about two weeks ago, and the trend continues Thursday as the team placed kicker Shaun Suisham on injured reserve. The move was expected as Suisham will undergo surgery to repair a torn ACL ligament in his knee. However, the team decided to part ways with Devin Gardner, releasing him waived/injured, and sign Garrett Hartley rather than placing Suisham in IR Tuesday.

The decision to move Suisham to IR wasn't the only roster decision made Thursday as the team announced they have also waived RB Cameron Stingily injured (Stingily underwent knee surgery to repair a torn meniscus) and signed RB Braylon Heard and WR David Nelson. Moving Suisham to IR and then releasing Stingily created two roster spots for the team to sign Heard and Nelson.

The Steelers will travel to Jacksonville, FL on Thursday to play the Jaguars in their second preseason game Friday night.
