The Pittsburgh Steelers second round draft pick Senquez Golson has been on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list since the start of training camp with a shoulder injury, and at Mike Tomlin's press conference Friday he stated how the cornerback from Ole Miss underwent surgery to repair his injured shoulder.
Tomlin wouldn't speculate on how long Golson is expected to be out, as well as the future of his season after having surgery with only three weeks remaining until the regular season begins.
When asked why Golson waited so long before undergoing surgery, Tomlin responded with he wanted him to experience training camp at Saint Vincent College and be around the team as long as possible.

Although Tomlin refused to give any type of timeline in regards to Golson's return, the fact the rookie has undergone shoulder surgery so close to the season doesn't look good for a return to the lineup anytime soon in 2015, if at all.
The Steelers can keep Golson on the PUP list through the beginning of the regular season to keep him from having to pass through waivers. Once that has happened, the team could place the rookie cornerback on injured reserve, or the injured reserve/re-call list.
