As the injury bug continues to move it's way through the Pittsburgh Steelers 90-man roster, the team saw another member of their unit unable to complete practice Thursday. That player would be ILB Vince Williams who suffered a hamstring injury and was carted off the field.
Mike Tomlin didn't speak of the severity of the injury, but did say he has a hamstring injury. The injury could keep Williams out of the lineup when the Steelers play the Minnesota Vikings in their first preseason action this Sunday. If so, it would open the door for Jordan Zumwalt to show what he can do at the inside linebacker position.

Not all injury news was bad. Coach Tomlin reported the injury to Robert Golden's knee was a MCL injury, but the ligament was intact and not severely damaged. Golden will not be playing in the game Sunday, but Tomlin did state he should be working his way back to the practice field sooner than later.

Wide receiver Markus Wheaton has been sitting out of practice for a few days now, and it was reported Thursday his injury is a hamstring. The Steelers would be wise to handle the hamstring injuries of Williams, Wheaton and Mike Mitchell with caution early in the preseason and training camp. No need to aggravate the injury and have it linger into the regular season when the games count.

Shamarko Thomas, who had been dealing with a shoulder injury, returned to practice and looks to play this Sunday in the Hall of Fame game. Heath Miller, not injured but had been given plenty of time off, also returned to practice Thursday.

The Steelers have their final practice Friday at 2:55 p.m. EST before traveling to Ohio Saturday for the game against the Vikings.
