The Steelers secondary is performing much better than expected, but with a spate of injuries, there isn't much room for error or mishaps. In order to beef up the unit that had one of its strongest games in Week 7 against the Bengals, the Steelers have signed cornerback Doran Grant to the 53-man roster.
Grant, whom the Steelers acquired in the fourth round out of Ohio State in the 2015 draft, has been on the practice squad up to this point. To make room for Grant, the Steelers have released wide receiver Tyler Murphy, an undrafted free agent from Boston College who had potential as both a wide receiver and a quarterback.
Both Cameron Heyward and Ryan Shazier came to the Steelers via Ohio State University.
