Predicting A Steelers Victory

Anybody and everybody is predicting a home team victory for the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Even Las Vegas got in on the act making the Patriots a seven point favorite. So why would somebody go against the grain and disagree even with Steelers fans themselves about the outcome this Thursday night, the answer is because somebody has got to so why not me. The purpose of this article is to provide a tad bit of hope amidst the prognosticators who are telling us our team doesn't stand a chance.

Here are four theoretical reasons the Steelers can't win Thursday night:

1) Home-field advantage for the Patriots is always a plus.

2) Speaking of which, on a Thursday night the visitors usually lose.

3) Super Bowl Champions mostly win their debut game the following season.

4) Tom Brady is going to be fired up and The Gronk is really just that good.

Now lets put together six solid reasons the Steelers will win the season's opening game:

1) Brady may be fired up but after being slapped around in the press all preseason and being told for the last week they don't stand a chance, I expect the Steelers to show up firing on all cylinders and playing with passion.

2) Team Speed. The Steelers have it in space on both sides of the ball, whether it is Ryan Shazier or Antonio Brown our guys are faster and quicker than their guys.

3)The Steelers offense finished third overall last season and most predict it will be the best offense in the league this season. Sure we are missing a couple of key cogs in Martavis Bryant and LeVeon Bell but still, our offense is awesome. The Steelers can score with the vaunted Patriot's offense.

4) DeAngelo Williams. Our team now has a very good backup running-back who should be a starter in this league if not for his age. He looked great in the preseason and our offense isn't going to be stymied like it was without LeVeon Bell against the Baltimore Ravens in the playoff loss last season.

5) We have no idea what the Steelers defensive schemes are going to look like this season, so neither do the Patriots. Sure the Patriots may have our signals but they don't now know what those signals mean. This is clearly an advantage for the Steelers.

6) As always; Because Stone Cold Said So.

There you have a statistical look at why our Amazing Steelers WILL win this Thursday night against the New England Patriots. I believe in our guys, how bout you!
