Earlier Tuesday, it was reported the Pittsburgh Steelers and cornerback William Gay were working hard to solidify a new contract before he becomes an Unrestricted Free Agent on Tuesday, March 9th at 4 p.m. EDT. The two sides got a deal done before free agency, and it was a three-year contract keeping Gay in black and gold for the foreseeable future.

Gay's new contract is the third move the Steelers have made in the past two days to retain some of their own free agents. More could be on the horizon, as well as the potential of signing some new players when the new league year officially begins Wednesday.
Gay joins the likes of Ross Cockrell, Senquez Golson and Doran Grant as the only players under contract with experience in the Steelers secondary heading into 2016. There is a strong likelihood the team would still be looking for free agent help, as well as in the upcoming NFL Draft, at the cornerback position to help aid the 30th ranked pass defense in the NFL.
