My what a difference a year makes.

At this time last year I was typing this same article, and to be quite honest, not really knowing what the hell I was getting myself into. I had been with BTSC for a year covering the Pittsburgh Steelers as the breaking news, podcast and radio guy. Then, I was captain of this mighty vessel.

To say a lot has changed throughout the course of a year is a gigantic understatement. Writers have come, and gone, and some have come back again. Nonetheless, I can honestly say this BTSC team, like the Steelers, is primed for a breakout year.

So, you ask, what is in store at BTSC for the upcoming year? Well, I'll just start by saying 'a lot'.

Before 2015, fans asked for more Film Room breakdowns, and we delivered. Christopher Carter is back to head up this department, and we are focused on providing you with even more Film Room breakdowns in 2016. Our goal is to get you 3-4 film breakdowns every week, with the potential for more, if we feel it is necessary. Chris has trained Nathaniel Bodnar in his GIF magic, and this will only help make those who love the Film Room series even more ecstatic for the new year.

What's that? You love podcasts? Well, let me tell you what we have in store for you this year. Last year we had the flagship podcast "The Standard is the Standard", "The Steelers Final Score" and that was essentially the extent of our podcast platform. That will change this year. We will be providing the two shows from last year again, but also new shows. Bryan Davis and Zach Parnes will host the "Steelers Fact or Fiction" podcast, a trio of readers will host a new NFL based show titled "The NFL through Black and Gold Glasses" and Joe Kuzma of Steel City Underground will be sharing podcasts with us on our platform as well.

Do the math, that is roughly 5 podcasts a week for your listening pleasure. You can hear all of them on our BlogTalkRadio page, but also on iTunes by searching "The Standard is the Standard" (which is the name of our platform, obviously).

On top of the podcast platform improving, look for more Facebook Live videos to be published. There is a chance we give you some live footage from events, but we will always be there for analysis, both pre and post game, as well as to cover the news for those who would rather watch, than just listen.

Okay, enough stuff for those millennial readers out there. What about those who come here for the best content on the internet? You know...the writing! Ah yes, the writing. I can honestly say the team we have assembled here is more than capable of blowing your doors off. We have the writers you all know and love, like Anthony Defeo and Mike Frazer, along with several new writers who are just waiting to put their stamp on BTSC.

Which brings me to my next point. BTSC has such a unique community of commenters and readers, we have decided to help make our writers a bit more real to the readers. Starting next week we will be doing two writer profiles a week. The writers will tell you a little bit about themselves, how they became Steelers fans, how long they've been writing for BTSC, etc. In other words, making them human and not just a byline under an article. It will only help the readers connect with the writers and their particular style.

Throughout the season we are determined to give you the best Steelers coverage on the internet, and we don't just say that as a new year approaches. We strive each and every day to provide a page of at least 5 articles for you to read, discuss and devour to help you feel closer to the best damn football team on the planet.

I look back at my article last year, and there is a paragraph which will always ring true as long as I am at the helm of this fine establishment:

The season is upon us and it is time to buckle down and enjoy the ride. Will the Steelers win No. 7? They have as good a chance as anyone, but one thing is, lose or draw BTSC will be there regardless.

I couldn't have said it any better myself...wait...I did say that. Anyways, as we shove off on Year 2 of the Jeff Hartman regime here at BTSC, we hope you hop on board...and enjoy the ride!
