Pittsburgh Steelers release kicker Shaun Suisham

The Steelers have made their decision on what they'll do with the kicker position going into 2016.

It has been reported that the Pittsburgh Steelers officially released kicker Shaun Suisham today.

Shaun Suisham suffered an unfortunate injury in the opening preseason game of the Steelers 2015 NFL season that ended his season and opened the door for Pittsburgh to find new talent. Though it took some time experimenting with NFL veterans, Pittsburgh found its man in Chris Boswell who kicked extremely well throughout the season and even made a game winning field goal in the playoffs.

Suisham's best hope in Pittsburgh was to be healthy for the preseason and possibly get traded to another team that could use his talents as a consistent NFL kicker. Unfortunately it appears that he has yet to fully recover from his knee injury and cannot pass an NFL physical. A decision which has led to his release from Pittsburgh and him looking for a home in free agency.

Should Suisham be able to pass a physical in the near future, he should have no problem finding a team that would want to give him a chance to earn a starting position. His time in Pittsburgh proved him to be a dependably accurate kicker.
