2016 Steelers Roster, 90 in 90 Days: Devaunte Sigler finally practicing, looking for an opportunity

In a new feature at BTSC, we are breaking down the Steelers 90-man roster one player, one position, one day at a time. The conclusion of this feature will be the start of the 2016 season.

Player: Devaunte Sigler

Position: DT

School: Jacksonville State

Overview: Devaunte Sigler still has some work to do to prove he’s NFL roster ready. While it seems like he’s beaten some of the character issues that had surfaced in college it’s never a good thing when an undrafted free agent shows up to camp and promptly fails the conditioning test.

With that being said, he seems to have moved on from the experience and has finally earned the right to make a case for inclusion on the roster. The simple truth, however, is that barring injury he probably does not have the best shot at making the team. The Steelers defensive line is a strength at this point, and defensive tackle isn’t a position you need much depth at in the current reality of the NFL.

However, he does have a level of size and athleticism that is always useful to have around at practice especially if injuries become a problem at some point. For that reason he has a decent shot of making the practice squad and maybe having his name called one day.

Strengths:
Has NFL strength
Known for his excellent motor

Weaknesses:
Was dismissed from Auburn
Spent most of 2015 injured
Failed conditioning test at beginning of training camp

Chances of Making the team: 10%
