For former Stanford do-it-all player Christian McCaffrey, the NFL Scouting Combine had to be both an exciting and dreadful event.

Exciting for the fact he is able to put his best foot forward for 32 NFL scouts as he attempts to boost his draft stock heading into the 2017 NFL Draft. But dreadful as he likely had to answer the question about him choosing to pass on Stanford’s bowl game for fear of injury which would hurt his draft stock this spring.

Throughout the process, McCaffrey answered a lot of questions, but one answer stood out for Pittsburgh Steelers fans. It was McCaffrey talking about his budding relationship with Le’Veon Bell as he starts his NFL career.

Check out what McCaffrey had to say about Bell when he was at the podium at the combine.

[Relationship with Le'Veon Bell?]

[Met him in person?]

Never met in person, just based off the phone.

[What was Bell's best advice?]

You watch him run and see how patient he is and that's really where I pull a lot of that from. Watching him sit behind the line of scrimmage and kind of dissect the defense, and as soon as he sees the hole he's exploding through it.

...

McCaffrey is a player who should be on a lot of teams’ draft boards, including the Steelers. McCaffrey’s ability as a running back, receiver and return man is something which could certainly help the black and gold in 2017.

After Bell, the Steelers are anything but certain at the running back position. DeAngelo Williams’ future is up-in-the-air, Fitzgerald Toussaint remains a backup and Karlos Williams rounds out the team’s stable of running backs.

With the Steelers not selecting until 30th, could McCaffrey and Bell go from Twitter acquaintances to teammates? Only time will tell...
