Entering the 2017 NFL Draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers had a number of draft needs which they needed to address. Outside linebacker, cornerback, safety, defensive line, running back, wide receiver and even quarterback were positions of need to help the black and gold get to the next level in 2017. There have been numerous thoughts and debates regarding what the team will do with their 8 draft picks, and the debate is slowly coming to a close.
The Steelers have selected Tennessee QB Josh Dobbs with their fourth round pick of the draft.
Dobbs is a good mix of athleticism and mobility, but fans should be weary of considering him the future of the position when Ben Roethlisberger decides to hang up the cleats.
For what Dobbs may lack in physical skill, he makes up for in mental ability. Dobbs was in the aerospace engineering department while at Tennessee, and is known for his cerebral approach to the game of football.
Nonetheless, at the very least, Dobbs could be competition for Zach Mettenberger this offseason, and the potential backup in the future.
The Pittsburgh Steelers' draft needs in the remaining rounds of the draft now would be considered: tight end, defensive line and safety, the foremost mentioned of the two being the primary concerned.
Stay tuned to BTSC for further news, updates and information regarding not just the team’s first round pick, but all 8 picks throughout the 7-round selection process.
