The Pittsburgh Steelers have selected quarterback Josh Dobbs with their 4th round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, and most might not know much about the dual threat signal caller from the University of Tennessee.

Leave it to former NFL head coach, turned ESPN analyst, Jon Gruden to provide some answers for Steelers Nation across the globe. Gruden asked Dobbs questions which varied from his aerospace engineering degree, to the X’s and O’s of the quarterback position in the NFL.

Check out Dobbs drawing up plays, getting grilled by Gruden and also hitting the practice field for a workout in the video below.

Most don’t view Dobbs as the future of the quarterback position in Pittsburgh, but his athleticism is undeniable. He was the first Volunteer quarterback to be drafted in the 4th round or earlier since Peyton Manning was selected first overall in the 1998 NFL Draft.

Dobbs will likely be in competition with Zach Mettenberger for the 3rd QB spot on the team’s roster, but if he impresses early in offseason workouts and training camp, he could press Landry Jones for the backup position behind Ben Roethlisberger. He certainly has the smarts to do it.
