It might not invoke such a strong response as it once did in the mid-2000s, but the AFC North rivalry is still alive and well in 2017. On Sunday, the two teams will start another chapter of their storied history, and the meeting will be in Baltimore at M&T Bank Stadium.
The Steelers haven’t won in Baltimore since 2012, and it wasn’t Ben Roethlisberger leading the way that night, it was Charlie Batch bringing the team back with the memorable touchdown pass, and reach, by Heath Miller to win the game.
But back to 2017.
Both teams are coming off bad losses in Week 3. The Steelers lost in overtime to the hapless Bears, 23-17, while the Ravens were demolished by the Jaguars in London 44-7. These results have both teams at 2-1, tied for 1st in the AFC North, and makes picking the outcome of this game even more challenging.
We will hold our prediction until this weekend, but it is that time of the week where we check in on the experts and see who they think will come out of the game 3-1, with an early stranglehold on the division.
While last week had the Steelers as heavy favorites, this week is more of a mixed bag depending on where you check. At ESPN, of their 10 experts who make picks, only three think the Ravens will hold serve at home.
At CBS Sports, they have 8 experts who make weekly selections, and three of those think the Ravens will pull out the win at home. Here at SB Nation, their 8 experts put their two cents worth in, and only three think Baltimore has what it takes to win in Week 4.
Take these selections with a grain of salt, considering last week every expert picked the Steelers, and we all know how that panned out for the black-and-gold. Nonetheless, these are just three websites, and there are plenty more who post weekly predictions every week. What about those experts?
This is where our friends at NFL Pick Watch come in. NFL Pick Watch is a website devoted to compiling all NFL expert picks across the internet, and putting them into one easy-to-read chart. Currently, as of Friday, a surprising 80-percent of experts think the Steelers will be the team to leave Week 4 3-1.
Las Vegas likes the Steelers, who are 3-point favorites on the road, and it seems as though the strong majority of experts like Pittsburgh too, but only time will tell who comes out of this divisional battle standing alone atop the AFC North.
