The Pittsburgh Steelers were victorious in Week 13 vs. the Cincinnati Bengals, but they had a big loss when Ryan Shazier went down with a back injury and was taken to the local hospital for further evaluation.
After the game, Mike Tomlin spoke with the media, but he didn’t have much of an update on Shazier’s status. What he did share was he is receiving quality medical care, and the Steelers will release any news and information regarding his status when it becomes available.
Shazier will be staying in Cincinnati for further evaluation, and Tomlin simply added the team, the players and the entire organization is thinking, and praying, for Shazier and his family at this time.
Other injuries of note during the game were Tyler Matakevich, who left the game with a shoulder injury and did not return. Besides Matakevich, Antonio Brown did not seem to be hindered by his right toe injury, and the hope is Tyler McDonald, Mike Mitchell and possibly a James Harrison sighting as the team now prepares for the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday Night Football in Week 14 at Heinz Field.
Stay tuned to BTSC for any updates on Shazier’s injury, and other injuries, heading into Week 14.
UPDATE:
At this point, any good news is good news.
Ryan Shazier "better than what it could have been," per team source. Looking better
