As Mike Tomlin said after the Steelers Week 8 win over the Lions on Sunday Night Football, “There hasn’t been a bye week I don’t like.” Well, the team’s Week 9 bye week certainly came at a great time for the Steelers as they were banged up and bruised after a very hard-hitting game at Ford Field.
A quick run-down of the injuries:
- Mike Mitchell left the game with an ankle injury and did not return.
- Chris Hubbard left the game with a reported concussion, and will now enter the league’s strict concussion protocol.
- Sean Davis left the game with his own ankle injury, but he was able to return to the game.
On top of those above in-game injuries, the trio of players who also missed Week 8 due to injury are hopeful to be healthy when the team returns to action in Week 10 when the Indianapolis Colts come to Heinz Field:
- Vance McDonald (knee)
- Marcus Gilbert (hamstring)
- Stephon Tuitt (back)
The hope is all of the above injured players will be able to return to action after the bye week, and will help the team press on in the back half of the season as they stay atop the AFC heading into Week 9.
