With the Steelers returning to the road against the high-powered Lions and extending their win streak to three, the faculty and staff at BTSC filled out report cards based on the team's performance. Join us and see just how well they graded out.
Offense: C
Valedictorian: JuJu Smith-Schuster
Honor Roll: David DeCastro, Maurkice Pouncey, Ben Roethlisberger
Detention: Eli Rogers, Darrius Heyward-Bey, Martavis Bryant
Against the 26th-ranked running defense in the league, I expected a better showing from Le’Veon Bell. His fumble could have been crucial. Red-zone offense was lackluster again thanks to crucial drops and penalties. Ben was better than he was worse, but not by much. JuJu is emerging and AB is amazing, but he got caught pushing off.
Defense: A-
Valedictorian: Vince Williams
Honor Roll: Sean Davis, Joe Haden, T.J. Watt, Artie Burns, Keith Butler
Detention: Nobody
Although they surrendered over 400 passing yards, they had two major goal-line stops. Butler's boys were all over the place and held the Lions to only field goals. They withered near the end, but stood tall on fourth down.
Special Teams: C
They stopped Jamaal Agnew, but didn't do much more special to earn their name.
Valedictorian: None
Honor Roll: None
Detention: None
Overall: B
Mike Tomlin is never looking for style points—just wins. Not perfect, but great teams only need to be good enough. That's what the Steelers were on Sunday night.
