5 impact players to watch in Steelers vs. Vikings Week 2

Who besides the big names could impact the Steelers’ fortunes? BTSC explores the possibilities.

With the Steelers getting ready for a season in which their ultimate goal is to climb the two extra rungs to Super Bowl glory, the usual suspects (Roethlisberger, Bell, Brown and Shazier) are expected to put up big numbers and lead the Steelers to victory. But please indulge us at BTSC as we highlight some other Black-and-gold warriors who could steal the headlines tomorrow at home against Minnesota.

WR JuJu Smith-Schuster

It was far from a stellar debut for the new Steeler receiver from USC. His only highlights were lowlights, as he was flagged twice for holding. JJSS has the intangibles to be a great receiver, he just needs to clear the jitters and put on a show.

TE Jesse James

The JV comments surrounding the Steelers stable of tight ends must have resonated with the big guy from Penn State. His two TDs led the way for the Steelers. He should be a huge red zone threat again this week.

OLB Alvin "Bud" Dupree

At the time of this writing, Dupree was doing everything possible to play this weekend. In the final seven games of 2016, No. 48 had 4 1/2 sacks. After working out with NFL veteran, Chuck Smith, Bud is primed to break out.

CB William Gay

Not quite the ageless wonder that is James Harrison, Gay had a nice 2017 opener against Cleveland. His play in the secondary seemed inspired. He should definitely feel needed against the talented receivers from the twin cities.

DE Tyson Alualu

The free agent from Jacksonville gets extended playing time with the absence of Stephon Tuitt. Alualu can ease minds and raise his profile with a great game on Sunday.
