The Vikings started the second half with the football, but after a three-and-out the Minnesota coaching staff decided to go for a fake punt. Tyler Matakevich sniffed out the play and broke up the pass. The Steelers translated this decision into a Chris Boswell 46-yard field goal to extend the Pittsburgh lead 17-3.
Keenum would answer with a drive of his own, and it was an exceptional catch by Stefon Diggs and a quality run by Dalvin Cook which set up the Vikings’ first touchdown of the day. However, after CJ Ham’s run, Kai Forbath missed the point-after, which made the score 17-9.
Roethlisberger answered Keenum’s drive with one of his own, and it was aided by a 51-yard completion to Martavis Bryant on a defensive offsides play, but the drive stalled in the red-zone and had to settle for a Chris Boswell field goal, making the score 20-9, their first failed red-zone attempt of the 2017 season.
The Steelers have the ball to start the 4th quarter.
