Fans of the Pittsburgh Steelers have been clamoring for their favorite team to make a move in free agency that didn’t involve them signing one of their own players. Monday, news broke the team would be host several free agents, among them was former New England Patriots linebacker Dont’a Hightower.

Hightower, was also being pursued by the New York Jets and Patriots, is scheduled to meet with Pittsburgh today, despite potential weather delaying his visit.

With Hightower set to meet Mike Tomlin, Kevin Colbert and Keith Butler today, fans will be watching closely to see if he is given a contract, or if he leaves without one.

Even if he leaves without a contract, fans shouldn’t lose all hope of him possibly coming to the black and gold. Often times players will want time to look over all offers before making a decision, but clearly the ideal situation would be the Steelers not letting Hightower leave without a contract, if their intention is to give a serious offer.

Pittsburgh doesn’t have an extravagant amount of salary cap space, but enough they could try and make an offer which could keep them in the conversation for Hightower’s services.
