DeAngelo Williams waiting to find out his NFL destiny for the 2017 season

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams is a free agent, and he doesn’t know what the future has in store for him in the NFL.

There comes a point in every athlete’s life when they have to come to the realization their career is over. For some, it comes easily. They step away, and as Chuck Noll said, “they gone on with their life’s work.” However, there are others who hold on for as long as they can, afraid to let go of what has been their identity for so long.

For Pittsburgh Steelers running back DeAngelo Williams, he is certainly staring at an uncertain NFL future as NFL Free Agency is set to begin on March 9th.

Williams is about to become a free agent for the second time in his NFL career. His first stint testing the free agent waters led him to the Steel City, but what is next for Williams? When posed with the question, his response on his verified Twitter account pretty much sums it up.

Williams doesn’t sound like a player ready to step away from the game, but a lot of that depends on if another team offers him a contract offer for his services in 2017.

That team could be the Steelers, after all, Williams provided them quality depth at a very thin position, but was hampered by injuries his past two seasons. He ended the 2015-2016 season with a foot injury, and missed the majority of the 2016-2017 season with a knee injury.

Nonetheless, when he was healthy and playing he was more than enough for the Steelers the past two seasons.

This begs the question, should the Steelers make Williams an offer, or look at free agents and/or the NFL Draft for their running back situation? Personally, I see the Steelers trying to keep Williams, but for the right price.
